Poll Suggestions

Suggest questions for the poll on the main page here.

gamemodes

How about a poll for what people's favorite game mode is? :P --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:47, 14 October 2013 (MDT)

Sounds good to me. :) I'll make this the next poll. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:55, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
Map Editor

There's a few map editor related ones we could do, like "Have you used the Ace of Spades map editor? 'Yes, I've used it and published a map', 'Yes, I've used it but not published a map', 'No, but I've played a map created by someone else', 'No, and I've not played a map created by someone else'." -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:57, 14 October 2013 (MDT)

Help and questions

Got any questions about the wiki? Post them here.

Links

I'm wondering two things:

  1. Is it possible to re-colour links with <span>?
  2. What is the hex value of the link colour?

This is for the Userpage Template because I have an idea for the personalization for changing link colours.
Any word on this would be much appreciated. :) --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 10:36, 2 October 2013 (MDT)

EDIT: Nevermind, got it. Link colour is #5F6237, and link colour can be changed with [[example|<span style="color: #++++++;">display text</span>]]. Userpage template now has colourable links with the option link-colour --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 08:38, 3 October 2013 (MDT)
Awesome, glad you got it sorted. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 09:47, 3 October 2013 (MDT)
Table Trouble

I've been wondering if it's possible to make tables automatically align themselves with text. This is for Template:Key, is there any way to do this? --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 14:19, 3 October 2013 (MDT)

EDIT: Just noting how the key currently renders.

Usually {{Key|shift}} + {{key|backslash}} on most keyboards

Would display as:

Usually ⇪ Shift + \ on most keyboards

--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 01:00, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

EDIT 2: Now I'm using <kbd>. Keys now don't wrap properly.

Example H + I text

Example H I text

--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 06:14, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

EDIT (AGAIN) 3: ITNOW wraps with text. I somehow got it to work. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 10:16, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

Replicating Headers

What would be the formatting codes to replicate the headings of the wiki (=...=, ==...==, etc.)? I'm thinking about making a "fake heading" template for the wiki guides I'm making. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 11:37, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

EDIT 1: I managed to get a close enough replication:

Fake Heading
Fake Heading
Fake Heading
Fake Heading
Fake Heading

however it's not 100% perfect. This will do for now. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 12:36, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

Looks good to me. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 10:00, 9 October 2013 (MDT)

Miscellaneous

Classes Page Revamp

Hizers, I recently made a source for a revamp for the Classes page. It's here if you want to take a look at it. I'm putting this here to gather feedback before making the change, as this is a pretty big change and it might confuse people to all of a sudden see a page completely different than what they're used to seeing. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 00:58, 1 October 2013 (MDT)

Looking good. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 10:00, 9 October 2013 (MDT)

Ace of Spades Wiki YouTube

So as I said before, I've set up a YouTube channel for the Wiki that can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/aoswiki Now we need to decide what to put on it. My thoughts so far are:

  • Weapon demonstration videos showing damage, rate of fire etc. that could be placed on the bottom of weapon articles (discussed with pauliux00). See an example from the old Wiki at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWofFNdyMaU
  • Video guides for classes showing loadouts and possible strategies, guides for gamemodes showing strategies etc, again to be placed at the bottom of articles
  • Videos from community events etc
  • Cool videos created by others. Could be added to playlists to share them with a wider audience.
  • Promotional videos for the Wiki

What are your thoughts? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 08:32, 2 October 2013 (MDT)

Answer: Use ALL the thjngs! p.s. I subbed. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 08:37, 2 October 2013 (MDT)
Yea, we could use Strategy Videos, Weapon Demonstrations, Map Showcases, well, ALL the things :P
P.S., both videos from me :D - Pauliux00 (Talk) 05:35, 4 October 2013 (MDT)
Sweet, let's get to work then. :D -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 10:00, 9 October 2013 (MDT)
Me and Pauliux00 are going to work on some weapon demonstration videos then. Anyone got suggestions or ideas for these? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:18, 13 October 2013 (MDT)
Templates, Templates Everywhere

I've made a bunch of templates... :)

  • {{Templatelink}} - Makes a cheesy template-esque link for a template.
  • {{Documentation}} - A template which you put in a template for a documention of that template. (I don't think I've ever said template that many times in one centance). The documentations are manaully made.
  • {{Key}} - Makes a key. Like this: CTRL Control. Or this: ⇪ Shift.
  • {{Colourlink}} - Makes a coloured link. Cool, right?

So yeah! --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 08:50, 4 October 2013 (MDT)

and here's two more:
Like this
--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png Wiki Team ♠-- 05:16, 5 October 2013 (MDT)
Nice one. Now looks even more like a link, thanks. :) --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 02:42, 6 October 2013 (MDT)
MetaHelp

I just opened up MetaHelp, which is basically a help thing. While we already have a "Help and questions" part on here I'm aiming MetaHelp as more of an editing help centre, including CSS and basically everything to do with editing.

So yeah. From --X Unresolved to -- Resolved. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 01:37, 13 October 2013 (MDT)

So it's a talk page for CSS stuff? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 07:59, 13 October 2013 (MDT)
Anything to do with editing; Templates, CSS, help with specific templates/namespaces, putting pages in namespaces, etc.. Thought it might be nice to have something completely based around Q&A. That's basically my original idea. :P --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew - The Razorblood (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 08:38, 13 October 2013 (MDT)
Sandbox

I've just made Ace of Spades Wiki:Sandbox which would allow people to test and gather feedback for edits and stuff. I've made it so sandbox pages would be in a subpage of the regular sandbox page, following the format of Ace of Spades Wiki:Sandbox/<name>. This could be useful for gathering feedback for revamps and stuff. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 08:40, 18 October 2013 (MDT)

Nice idea. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 08:44, 18 October 2013 (MDT)
Should we have a protection policy?

Something that I'm wondering. I've already been shoveling in the sandbox, and I've made a very incomplete page which could be used as a protection policy, which can be found in the sandbox here. What do you think?

I don't think it's a massive priority (I don't think we've had to protect a page since the Wiki started), and to be honest it's most efficient to just shoot me a message on Steam if you want a page protecting or whatever, but I'm definitely open to the idea. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 08:37, 19 October 2013 (MDT)
Hm. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 08:45, 19 October 2013 (MDT)
Also could the protection I requested on the padlock images (File:Padlock-gold.png, File:Padlock-silver.png, etc.) be carried through, while I'm here? I stuck the request template on a while back. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 08:45, 19 October 2013 (MDT)
This is what I'm saying. :p Stuff like this means I have to search out things to be done around the Wiki which just means more work. Although I try to review every edit made to the Wiki, sometimes other things have to take priority and I just don't have enough time, which I why I always recommend sending me a message if I haven't seen something after a few days. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 08:56, 19 October 2013 (MDT)
The Poll Extension Stat Dump

ikr --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 13:59, 21 October 2013 (MDT)
May I suggest these extensions

^ Note that you don't have to use any of these, they're just suggestions :P

  • EditWarning - Warning when editing pages while other users are editing
  • Echo - Notification system

Just the two, because I have to go in like 2 mins from the time of writing and I don't want to lose my progress, I also couldn't find anything else that looked interesting >_< And just a reminder you don't have to use these if you don't want to ;) --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 13:59, 21 October 2013 (MDT)

I'll check 'em out. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 21:18, 22 October 2013 (MDT)
I've found an extension that would possibly be a great feature for this wiki.
With this extension a lot of pages could be cleaned up to include an actual video instead of just a link, to make the page look a lot more appealing. Plus, I'm sure the videos would get a lot more views if they weren't just links. Also, this is a perfect time to add this with the new Wiki YT channel. --DeuceHeadBlue.png Travas2 (♠ Talk ♠) Spade.png 11:19, 10 November 2013 (MST)
Yeah, I was thinking about a video extension as well. This would be great. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:42, 10 November 2013 (MST)
Yeah I'm aware of that extension. The reason I've not installed it yet is because it used to have a pretty major security vulnerability (XSS) that was in there for a very long time. Looking again it seems to have been patched now, but I'm still a little uneasy about installing it since there could be other issues. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 12:27, 10 November 2013 (MST)
Some others which I found on MediaWiki:
HTML5Video - Note this is in Beta
Video - This is also in Beta
FramedVideo - Stable, but seems to be discontinued
YouTube - Stable.
I may have to make {{Extenison link}} XD
--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 12:36, 10 November 2013 (MST)
So far EmbedVideo looks the most stable out of any of them. --DeuceHeadBlue.png Travas2 (♠ Talk ♠) Spade.png 13:36, 10 November 2013 (MST)
Custom CSS + Collapsible things

Two things I'm wondering:

  • Is custom user CSS disabled?
    • Not sure whether it is or just a problem on my end, because I've set some things on my vector.css, cleared my cache, and the changes haven't taken place.
  • Do you know how to enable collapsible stuff?
    • There's been some cases where I've wanted to make a table collapsible (as in, I can hide or show it's contents) and it seems to not work. I've tried both classes mw-collapsible & mw-collapsed = collapsible & collapsed and it doesn't work.

That's all. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 08:41, 24 October 2013 (MDT)

I'll look in to it. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 19:38, 24 October 2013 (MDT)
Game mode infobox

{{ModeInfoBox}}

Maps have one, classes have one, weps have one, and ME tools even have one, so why not one for the game modes? ;) --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 07:51, 7 November 2013 (MST)

Looks great! Nice work. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 12:56, 7 November 2013 (MST)
Stuff I'm Doing For Here

I'm making some videos for the Wiki on my YT channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/megamatthew2002. I'll be doing class information, map tours and game mode information videos. Here's what I've done so far:

-- CLASSES --

  • Marksman Class Video

-- MAPS --

  • None yet

-- MODES --

  • None yet

Just things. :p --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 12:26, 11 November 2013 (MST)

Awesome. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 20:38, 11 November 2013 (MST)
Thanks. :)
Also any feedback on my format of doing these is appreciated. The Marksman Class Video was my first time doing stuff like that. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 09:50, 12 November 2013 (MST)
Just would like to point out that while you're waiting for me to stop programming almost 24/7 you can watch my latest Ace of Spades let's play episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-SHy2mi2-k --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:13, 15 December 2013 (MST)
Clans on the Ace of Spades Wiki

So with the success of the Custom Maps articles, I think that allowing articles for Ace of Spades clans is the next logical step. Supporting clans is something I really want to do, and I know that Sally is looking at giving more support to clans in the future also.

Like with the custom maps, this would be beneficial to both parties. Clans get another platform to advertise themselves on, whilst the Wiki gets more articles and pageviews. People coming to the Wiki to view or edit clan articles may decide to stick around, and may even become active contributors themselves.

Clans could include an overview, history, structure, memberlist, screenshots, videos and more. This is something that has worked really well on other Wiki's. For example, take a look at my clans pages on the RuneScape Clans Wiki. Any thoughts? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 08:23, 12 November 2013 (MST)

Are you bloody serious? THIS IS THE BEST IDEA EVER! :P --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 09:50, 12 November 2013 (MST)
Just wondering, will the clans be handled like the Custaom Maps? Also, I'm exited for this (as my above statement may state.) ;) --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 14:52, 25 November 2013 (MST)
I think so, Custom Maps seem to have gone really well from what I've seen. Glad you're excited about it, I'll get it sorted in the next few days/ -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 15:16, 25 November 2013 (MST)
Tor.

You've blocked Tor a little too heavily. I had to use it for a bit because my ISP was playing up, and your wiki just said "This IP is blacklisted". I understand why you have it blocked, but can you please just limit the block to wiki modifications? Thanks. --Marisa Kirisame <3 (talk) 23:42, 17 November 2013 (MST)

Weird, I've not done anything like that as far as I'm aware. Is it MediaWiki or the server throwing you the message? Could be something to do with my host. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 21:41, 18 November 2013 (MST)
Hey, are you still having issues with this? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 17:15, 28 December 2013 (MST)
I don't know if it's still an issue... looked like it might have been a message from the server when it happened. I can always wake you up at 4am if I need to use Tor again. --Marisa Kirisame <3 (talk) 21:01, 28 December 2013 (MST)
Is This Actually True

"You must have cookies enabled to log into Ace of Spades Wiki." I'm asking, because, as you may or may not know, I recently switched my web browser to the WebKit engine, and one thing is: Cookies don't work! So, is that statement on the login form actually true or is it just lying? --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 13:22, 7 December 2013 (MST)

Yes, MediaWiki requires cookies to log the user in. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 14:13, 7 December 2013 (MST)
I'll just correct myself: Cookies won't work, but I can still log in despite that using my Browser. Strange.

Article Creation Wizard

Hi guys,
I'm currently making a Wizard to make article creation easier and faster.
It's still very much a Work in Progress, so not everything is added yet.

But you can check it out here! --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 12:40, 9 December 2013 (MST)

This is a really cool idea. :) Should be especially useful for people not used to using MediaWiki. Looking forward to seeing it finished. :D -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 20:52, 9 December 2013 (MST)
The <noinc<includeonly>lude> Trick

Just a quick tip for templates.

If you want to have <noinclude> tags shown in a template (Especially for preloading), but only when the template is used, you can do this:
<noinc<includeonly>lude>text which isn't shown on template page</noin</includeonly>clude>

It's a strange solution, but it actually does work. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 07:06, 14 December 2013 (MST)

Weird, but yeah at least it works. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 19:10, 14 December 2013 (MST)
MediaWiki Upgrade

Hey guys, I've just upgraded us to MediaWiki 1.22.0. This was a pretty major change, so please let me know if anything looks broken to you. I'm aware that the watchlist star icon and actions arrow icon in the top right don't look great with our skin and will be fixing them up in the next day or so. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 00:14, 20 December 2013 (MST)

Definatley going to have to get used to the more Wikipedia-like wiki now XD
One thing I noticed though is the fact the edit toolbar looks dumb now. Is there any way to revert it to the one we had before? --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 00:41, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Looks the same for me. Could you try going to preferences -> editing and make sure 'Enable enhanced editing toolbar' is checked? ^^ -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 01:20, 20 December 2013 (MST)
The enable enchanted editor toolbar option is checked. For a note, it's like the "monobook" toolbar shown on the Wikipedia table tutorial. My custom CSS may of started working in some areas, so I may of busted somthing there. For a quick question, are the links on the sidebar black for you? If they aren't my CSS is working a bit. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 06:49, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Wait. On my phone (iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0) it shows the Monobook toolbar. On my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition running Windows 7 Home Premium) it shows the Vector toolbar. IDK what's going on anymore. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:07, 20 December 2013 (MST)
So you used to be able to use the Vector toolbar on your iPhone, but can't after the upgrade? -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:09, 20 December 2013 (MST)
pretty much, yeah. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:18, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Ok, I'll look into this. All the extensions, including the WikiEditor extension were upgraded along with the software so maybe something has changed. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:20, 20 December 2013 (MST)
I decided I'd take a shot of the edit toolbar in every browser I have:
Marksman Beta 0.0.0.3 - Vector Toolbar
Google Chrome - Vector Toolbar
Internet Explorer 11 - Vector Toolbar
Safari on iOS 7.0 - Monobook Toolbar
--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:37, 20 December 2013 (MST)
All I can think is that perhaps the Vector editor doesn't support mobile Safari, so it falls back to the more basic one instead. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 12:05, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Yeah. It's strange how the Vec editor worked before and doesn't now, though. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 12:09, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Yeah. It works fine on my phone, all I can think is that the updated version became incompatible with Safari on iPhone. I'll let you know if I find out anything else. :) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 17:22, 28 December 2013 (MST)
click expand
OH YES.
OH GOD YES.

--♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 14:19, 20 December 2013 (MST)

Yup ^^ -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 14:33, 20 December 2013 (MST)
Few more updates

I've changed the background and image used on the main page. The previous ones were from really old pre-release builds of Ace of Spades and showed stuff that was never actually implemented, so it seemed a bit silly to use them. If you've got suggestions for other images we could use (preferably green to fit the skin) then please do let me know. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 14:32, 20 December 2013 (MST)

I know this isn't image related, but I've made a custom button style in my CSS which could be used, based on AoS in-game buttons:
TnmMadeACoolButton.PNG
CSS code (warning, huge):
/* Form buttons */

input[type="submit"]
{
padding: 3px 5px 3px 5px;
background: linear-gradient(khaki, goldenrod);
font-family: Spades, Arial, sans-serif;
border: 1px solid olive;
box-shadow: 2px solid darkkhaki;
border-radius: 2px 2px 2px 2px;
}
input:hover[type="submit"], input:focus[type="submit"]
{
padding: 3px 5px 3px 5px;
background: linear-gradient(yellow, palegoldenrod);

input:active[type="submit"]

/* Upload File button */

input#wpUploadFile[type="submit"]

font-family: Spades, Arial, sans-serif;
border: 1px solid olive;
box-shadow: 2px solid darkkhaki;
border-radius: 2px 2px 2px 2px;
}
input#wpUploadFile:hover[type="submit"], input#wpUploadFile:focus[type="submit"]
{
padding: 3px 5px 3px 5px;
background: linear-gradient(yellow, palegoldenrod);
font-family: Spades, Arial, sans-serif;
border: 1px solid gold;
box-shadow: 2px solid khaki;
border-radius: 2px 2px 2px 2px;
}
input#wpUploadFile:active[type="submit"]
{
padding: 3px 5px 3px 5px;
background: linear-gradient(yellow, goldenrod);
font-family: Spades, Arial, sans-serif;
border: 1px solid gold;
box-shadow: 2px solid khaki;
border-radius: 2px 2px 2px 2px;
}
Don't worry 'bout the spades font. I've added in backup plans to make sure that doesn't fail if you use it and the user doesn't hve the Spades font installed. :P
Also, if you do end up using this, I'd like it if I got some credit, i.e.
/* Style made by TntMatthew */
or something like that. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 12:34, 29 December 2013 (MST)

background: linear-gradient(khaki, goldenrod);
font-family: Spades, spades, Arial, sans-serif;

  • Uses embedded fonts so that Spades is used even if the user doesn't have the font installed on their machine (works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera)
  • Fixed up the box shadow - 2px solid khaki doesn't do anything, it should be horizontal vertical color
  • Added in a fallback for browsers such as IE9 which can't display gradients - it will now show a solid color rather than no color at all (could go one further and look at using images too) -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 17:22, 30 December 2013 (MST)
Did you know you could style specific links

...with css?

a:link[href="http://aceofspadeswiki.info"]
{
color: red;
}
a:visited[href="http://aceofspadeswiki.info"]
{
color: blue;
}
a:hover[href="http://aceofspadeswiki.info"]
{
color: green;
}
a:active[href="http://aceofspadeswiki.info"]
{
color: black;
}

This can allow for formatted names if you'd like to look into those at some point. I tested in a HTML document, with a link to the wiki and a link to my UP - the wiki link had a custom style, but the userpage link didn't, which means this does work.

If my userpage link was formatted the way it is in my signature, my sig wouldn't be so long XD --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣Talk Page♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 13:24, 22 December 2013 (MST)

Yup, using attribute selectors. ^^ It's a cool idea, but I think it's best to keep signatures how they are - otherwise people would have to wait for me to change the CSS every time they wanted to change their signature. :p -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 17:51, 28 December 2013 (MST)

New Buttons

So as you can see above, TntMatthew has kindly put together some CSS to make the buttons on the Wiki more Ace of Spades like. As a quick example here is what the main page would look like with the new buttons File:NewButtons.png, and with the old ones File:OldButtons.png. Please post Yes {{Yes}} for the new buttons and No {{No}} to keep the old ones, I'll make a decision when it looks like there's a consensus. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 17:39, 30 December 2013 (MST)

Yes, and I'll also leave a note: you can't actually style the Choose File button, so if this gets in exclude that part :p --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣TC♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 02:17, 31 December 2013 (MST)

Articles in other lanuages

So this is definitely something I'd like to see. It will need to be organised well to prevent it from becoming confusing. Perhaps something like a German main page, with the articles as subpages? E.g. Deutsche/Kommando? Subpages as English articles could work too E.g. Commando/Deutsche, but there would be problems if someone wanted to create an article in another language if there wasn't an English one already. If there's enough interest I could set up sister wiki's for other languages, E.g. de.aceofspadeswiki.info, but this would be a lot of work to create and maintain so I think it's best to keep things simple for now. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 11:15, 5 January 2014 (MST)

ontopic part: Yeah, we should do different langs.
offtopic part: while I'm here, you can put the CSS I used to style interwiki links in the default vector CSS. --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣TC♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:21, 5 January 2014 (MST)
edit: if the CSS actually worked properly. i must do some testing --♠ MarksmanGreenHead.png TntMatthew (♣TC♣) BoltActionBlue.png ♠-- 11:27, 5 January 2014 (MST)
Righto. -- ZombieHead.png Count (My talk page) 12:57, 5 January 2014 (MST)
Meh. I'm all for the idea of expanding the Wiki into other languages, however, in my opinion it would have to be a separate thing entirely (de.aceofspadeswiki.info, like you said) or else it would look extremely sloppy. Google has a pretty nice translating service, but I don't see the point in translating all the pages into German if only a few people will read it anyway - also, they could just translate the page from English to German if they wanted to. Another thing, if we do start making German pages, who will write the content? Google translate is far from perfect, so translating entire pages will have a lot of mis-translations. Unless I'm missing a point, I don't see this being very plausible as of this point in time. --DeuceHeadBlue.png Travas2 (♠ Talk ♠) Spade.png 15:28, 5 January 2014 (MST)
